Get ready to groove! The captivating Broadway and film choreography retrospective, Gotta Dance!, is making a grand return for an Off-Broadway encore run. Beginning March 20th at Stage 42, this production will take you on a journey through the art of musical theatre dance, paying homage to the choreographers who have left their mark on Broadway and Hollywood. But here's where it gets controversial...
The show, co-directed by Nikki Feirt Atkins and Randy Skinner, features an all-star cast of dancers, including Keely Beirne, Brandon Burks, and many more. The production showcases iconic numbers from West Side Story, White Christmas, and Singin' in the Rain, among others. With music arrangements by Eugene Gwozdz and a live orchestra, this run promises to be a spectacle. However, some may argue that the choice of choreographers and the focus on specific musicals could be seen as limiting the scope of the show's tribute. What do you think?
The production team behind Gotta Dance! is equally impressive. Noah Glaister handles scenic design, Marlene Olson Hamm designs the costumes, and Ken Billington and Anthony Pearson take care of lighting and projection design, respectively. Peter Brucker's sound design will add to the immersive experience. Andrew Winans serves as associate director-choreographer, while Cathy Lubash Fogelman takes on the role of associate choreographer. Drew Neal will manage the production stage.
Riki Kane Larimer produces the show, with Joel Grossman as the executive producer. Laura Janik from Catalyst Theatricals is the general manager.
