Karim Adeyemi's Underwhelming Performance May Scupper Tottenham's January Transfer Plans (2026)

£61m player surely won’t be signing for Tottenham after what happened on Tuesday

Johan Lange will not have been best impressed by the performance of Tottenham target Karim Adeyemi

Tottenham have been offered Adeyemi as the North London club looks to add a new attacker to their ranks this month. But here's where it gets controversial...

Karim Adeyemi would start over Brennan Johnson in the Tottenham team.

Spurs have been linked with the Dortmund star, Mohammed Kudus’ injury and the sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace has forced Spurs to assess their options in attack.

The German attacker is one of the players the Lilywhites have been looking at, but he was rather disappointing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.

Tottenham will have been put off making a move for Karim Adeyemi.

Karim Adeyemi was part of a really underwhelming Borussia Dortmund team during their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Thomas Frank has alleviated some of the pressure on him following an impressive 2-0 win over the German outfit. Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke were the pair who got the goals and secured a win, which lifts Spurs into fourth place in the Champions League group stage.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Adeyemi was meant to be one of Dortmund’s biggest threats in North London; however, the 24-year-old really struggled against Romero and Kevin Danso.

The winger managed just 26 touches, losing possession ten times, completing just nine passes and failing to register a single effort at goal. Last summer, BILD reported that Dortmund valued him at £61 million, but even that valuation has dropped; Spurs won’t have been too impressed by his display.

After the match, the German media showed how unimpressed with the attacker they were, with GFNG rating him 5/10; meanwhile, RAN gave a dismal 3/10. Spurs are likely to accelerate their plans to sign a new attacker very shortly, but Adeyemi is now unlikely to be a player which they pursue.

Niko Kovac could be a replacement for Thomas Frank at Tottenham

Another Dortmund man who has been linked with Tottenham is Niko Kovac, who could be a replacement for Frank. According to Rudy Galetti, Spurs have previously tried to appoint the German coach, and he could now become a target again.

His team had been enjoying a promising season until their defeat to Spurs, losing just once across all competitions. But again, with Dortmund struggling in North London, that could now put off Spurs from making their move for the coach.
