Magic Travel West Following League Break: 'We Have a Lot of Room to Grow'

The Orlando Magic are gearing up for a challenging stretch of games after the NBA All-Star break. Last season, they struggled post-break, losing six of their next eight games. However, they recovered strongly, winning 12 of their final 18 games to secure a top-seven finish in the Eastern Conference and homecourt advantage in the Play-In Tournament. This year, they can't afford a similar dip in form.

The Magic (28-25) are currently 1.5 games behind the No. 6 Philadelphia 76ers (30-24) but just 0.5 games ahead of the No. 8 Miami Heat (29-27). They are three games ahead of the No. 9 Charlotte Hornets (26-29) and 3.5 games ahead of the No. 10 Atlanta Hawks (26-30).

Head coach Jamahl Mosley emphasized the importance of rest, conditioning, and preparation during the break, urging his team to be ready for a sprint to the finish line. The Magic's challenging schedule starts with a four-game trip to the West Coast, where they went 2-2 in their previous trip in late December.

Their first stop is Sacramento, where they face the Kings, who hold the league's worst record with just 12 wins. Following that, they take on three Western Conference teams vying for playoff positions: the No. 7 Phoenix Suns (32-23), the No. 10 Los Angeles Clippers (26-28), and the No. 5 Los Angeles Lakers (33-21).

The Magic will then return home to face the No. 4 Houston Rockets on Amazon Prime Video, followed by a four-game homestand that includes games against Detroit, Washington, and Dallas in March.

Despite the challenges, the team remains optimistic. Guard Desmond Bane stated, 'Our best basketball is definitely in front of us, and that's super exciting. Knowing we're not the team we want to be, we have a lot of room to grow.'

Additionally, the Magic are set to host the Orlando Wine Festival & Auction, an annual event that raises funds for the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation. The festival, taking place on February 28 at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, has raised nearly $5 million since its debut in 2019, with last year's festival bringing in a record amount of over $2 million.

The festival features vintner dinners, a wine festival, live and e-auctions, live music, culinary experiences, and appearances by Magic players, coaches, and legends. The DeVos Community Enrichment Award, honoring a player for their off-court contributions, will also be presented during the event, with the winner receiving $20,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.

The Magic's next game is against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at 10 p.m. ET, broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network Florida.
